Charles Mfouapon is a financial systems engineer, founder, and researcher working at the intersection of quantitative finance, technology, law, and institutional development.

His work is concerned with a broader question: how can the systems through which capital, knowledge, and opportunity move be made more effective, particularly in markets where institutional friction remains high and reliable data is scarce?

He is the Founder of AfriScore, a financial infrastructure company developing credit intelligence for emerging African markets. AfriScore uses alternative data and quantitative risk models to help financial institutions make more informed, explainable, and responsible lending decisions for people and businesses that have historically remained outside conventional credit systems.

He is also the Founder & Executive Director of Linktion Futures, a youth development initiative in Cameroon focused on building sovereign human-capital pipelines—from foundational literacy and digital skills to elite academic preparation and early-stage venture creation.

Across these efforts, Charles works across disciplines rather than within a single professional category. His background combines quantitative finance, financial regulation, software engineering, economic policy, legal systems, and institutional design.

His research examines questions around financial infrastructure, alternative data, credit risk, regulation, and capital allocation in emerging markets. His academic work has appeared on SSRN and in policy research, and he is the author of The Architecture of African Financial Infrastructure.

His professional experience includes work with the Mastercard Foundation, the Oxford Seed Fund, the CEMAC Commission, and the Nkafu Policy Institute, alongside his entrepreneurial work.

Charles is bilingual in English and French and has worked across technical implementation, financial analysis, regulatory policy, and institutional strategy.

He is ultimately interested in building systems that are capable of outlasting the individuals who create them—institutions, infrastructure, and ideas that compound over time.
